About the event
What is Shen Zhen Qi Gong?
Qi Gong is a form of graceful movement-based meditation that has its cultural origins in the Chinese understanding of how life fore energy (qi) moves through the human body. 'Sheng Zhen' can be translated into English as "Open Heart" or "Unconditional Love". This branch of qi gong was founded by Li Junking a world reknowed wushu coach and martial artist. The purpose of this qi gong is the practice of unconditional love.
You may wonder how one can actually practice unconditional love. Well--we are fortunate to be able to benefit from 100's of year of tradition in the understanding of qi. Hopefully more of an answer will be revealed to you through practice if you're truly curious.
In a sequence, rather like a dance, your body and spirit begin to align with natural health and the flow of unconditional love & life force energy at the heart of all life. With dedicated practice, Shen Zhen Gong promotes a healthy body, helps dissolve negative emotions, & serves to open and purify the heart.
A story about the Founder
Bill Douglas, founder of the World Tai Chi & Qigong Day stated, "When I first began organizing world Tai Chi & Qigong day, I was invited by the National Qigong Association to come and speak at their annual forum. While there, I met an extraordinary man named Master Li Junking. He'd been perhaps the best Kung Fu coach in China's long martial arts history but gave it al up to begin teaching qigong for health. He stopped me in the hall one day & asked this, "why are you organizing this World Tai Chi and Qigong Day?...Are you doing it for love?" he asked.
This caught me off guard, because I'd been doing it simply because it has been proven to help people's health. But, Master Li, insisted that it be much more. He said the world's Qi, or life energy was depleted of love in this age of hustle & bustle, no one taking the time to enjoy life or one another. This great Qigong master, & one of the world's greatest martial artists, gave me the quintissential Qigong lession when he said, "Love is the essence of Qigong." I realized, over time that he was right. Not just about World Tai Chi & Qigong day, or Qigong, but about everything we do in our lives. If we don't do it for love, it is meaningless, and will not last, or have any real consequences in the grander scheme of life."
